Venue & Accommodation

Conference Venue

The conference will be hosted at the University of Augsburg, Germany, on the ground floor of the Y-building  (room Y-1003). The Y-building (see below) is located on the outer edges of the campus, close to the tram tracks.

From the tram stop "Universität," you walk on the sidewalk along the tram tracks towards the previous tram stop ("Bukowina Institut/PCI") until you see the white rectangular building on your left.

Getting Here

If you arrive by plane, the nearest airports are Munich International Airport (about 1.5 hours by train) and Memmingen Airport (about 1 hour by car; transfer to Augsburg by public transport is possible but tedious).

If you arrive by train, we recommend to book a ticket to Augsburg main station (Hauptbahnhof) from where you can then catch a tram or bus to your hotel/and or the conference venue. Depending on the location of your accommodation, you can also take the train to the station "Haunstetterstraße" from where you can catch the tram line 3 to the university.

To get to the university from the main station (HBF), you will need to catch the Tram 3 in the direction of Königsbrunn/Inninger Straße (they are the same line and both go to the university, the former just goes further at the end of the line). After around 20 minutes, you exit the tram at the stop "Universität." (Don’t be confused, the central tram hub of Augsburg is not the main train station but one station next to it at “Königsplatz.”)

Here you can find:

– a map of the public transport in Augsburg

– a map of where you can find the university in the town

– a map of the campus

Here is also a virtual tour of the university in case you want to have a look around before you arrive 🙂

Accommodation

There are many options for hotels and hostels in Augsburg. To decide where you want to stay, you need to figure out if you want to have a hotel near the university or in the city centre. Either option will work, but your decision will be based on if you want to have easy walking access to the conference venue or if you want to stay in a central area, but then you will need to take a short tram ride of about 20 minutes to get to the conference.

You might find this special two day public transport ticket by AVV called the Hotelticket useful.

(We de recommend maybe avoiding temporary rentals like AirBnB.)

We curated a few hotels here that are very easy to find from the main train station and the university alike but more information can be found here at the tourism office.
